The Gatekeepers

June 25, 2018

This artwork 'The Gatekeepers' takes us into a miniature world, familiar but not entirely recognisable.

Two figures stand before an archway, surreal and still-like silhouettes of those who have passed this way.

The man-made arch sits alone in the landscape overgrown by the surrounding forest, marking the passing of time. The scatter of stones hint at something more once being here. But now, it is lost.

This forgotten relic is being enveloped by the trees.

The trees grow strong and their roots deep, binding it here.

They will hold it upright where it stood.

And they have begun to slowly engulf it.

They stand witness to the passing of humanity.

They are the gatekeepers to what was and what lies ahead.
